I listened to every single one of your mp3 songs and.. What more can I add to the message left by Lorrie?? She has said a lot of things that I would not have been able to give words to.
What I enjoyed in your music was the absolute... humanity of it. It's not some crazy machine making all that sound, it's a real person!! Well, not only in that 'humanity' aspect.. what makes your music great is that it can be felt inside the body and mind (does that make sense?) and forms a sort of connection with the spirit.. sure, a lot of songs do that but not many have the power to lift UP the spirit. I can listen to Marilyn Manson or.. 50 cent all I want but that's not going to make me feel better in a wholesome way. Such music is fueled by anger, fear, denial, and is littered with words of degredation.. and it does not seek to change those emotions but rather sinks into them as... protection? Of course, people could argue against me, I invite them to do so...
Your music has the ability to alter the negative thinking that is so rampant in this society, with its swaying choruses and earthy rhythms - almost like you could reach out and touch them. I was actually 'sick' for a very long time this year.. (long story, to make it short: I was studying Sanskrit, had a real bad Man Experience, the winter was terrible, got my wisdom teeth removed, was sick because of that, missed a few exams, blablabla = catastrophic breakdown (my eye even twitched incontrollably every time I thought about Sanskrit for months after.. haha).. (but i can laugh about it now, it happens..)..... anyhow, what really changed everything, my entire life, was immersing myself in music like yours. There is a soul, compassion and empathy in every note of this music and it suddenly seems ridiculous to be laying around thinking, "oh!!! the world is going to end!!! everything is so terrible!!" Because the world is not like that.. like you said, if you are gentle you can change anything. And you have truly demonstrated this in your work.

Hi Alex, I love your CD One Love Is the Law. The best word I can use to describe this CD is emotional. You managed to evoke love, frustration, joy, sadness, loneliness, happiness and a since of empowerment in me with your music and lyrics.
I can't nail down exactly which song I like best but I love to sing along to Zuwena. This song had the feeling of a great "love song" even before I know what you were saying in Swahili!
It's Me Again, Jah pulls at my heart. I think many people have been on their knees praying for different things. You captured the struggle we face when our wanting to please God wars with the frustration of life.
Like any great artist of music, photography, painting or sculpting, the best pieces touch the hart. Your music does that for me. You songs Be My Wifey, Wifey and Love Is the Only Thing I Got are two great examples of this.
What can I say about Maza Africa…This is a timeless song for the world! Thank you.
Who's the Real Cowboy makes me laugh out loud because I grew up in an area that is full of "cowboys". :)

Alex,
I want to thank you for the CD Never Before that you gave me outside Tulleys coffee. I really love it and have been playing it a lot in my Audi which has a terrific sound system. People driving by love at me funny when I have it all cranked up load. I love all of it but my most favorite is "Like Me". Will you and your group ever play live in the Seattle area? I would love to be there, bring friends and get this body moving!

wow, wow, wow. alex, you really did it man. love the cd its fantastic. the sounds are so original with a alex kajumulo twist. what i mean by that is, your music, is suppose to be an african style, fall in that african style, because you're african so that's what one would expect before listening to the cd. what your cd brings, is out of the box style of african music. because your music has country, a little bit of blues, raggae, rap/hip hop style, the list goes on. all those different sound incorporated in most songs brings a new flavor to the music world. one of my favorate, is "Mama Africa", one reason, i'm african. but, it has a deep meaning that i like. you talk about how every one is african, an asian man, indian man, european, all that deep meaningful wording, of relating evreyone to the mother land was great, and "this law was pass by the congress of GOd", that line is funny, because its different. man your cd is great, could go on and on but, people have to listen for themselves. you did a fantastic job, just fix your pic, purple is not your color man. take care.
